Start with your symptoms
Your clinician will ask about your sleep, symptoms, health history, and medicines. A sleep diary can help describe what is happening. A sleep study helps identify the type and severity of sleep apnea.
Before testing
- Ask which test is being ordered and why it fits your situation.
- If you receive a home kit, check its exact name and follow the instructions supplied with it.
- Ask whom to contact if a sensor comes loose or the kit does not work.
- Confirm how the results will be reviewed and what happens if the test does not answer the clinical question.
Use instructions for your kit
Home test systems differ. A video for one system may not show how to use another. Your testing provider's directions should guide setup and return steps.
